Move 60!

What: MOVE 60! - A before or after school exercise program for students in grades 2nd – 6th

Goal: The goal of the MOVE 60! Program is to get students exercising for 60 minutes per day, 4 days per week. The program seeks to increase opportunities for student movement outside of the school day. The intention is to fight childhood obesity, improve chronic health issues, offer an opportunity to play sports, and to provide benefits of extra exercise to students.

When: There will be 3 sessions offered throughout the school year

  • Fall Session October 3 - December 16, 2016
  • Winter Session January 9 - March 14, 2017
  • Spring Session April 10 - June 9, 2017


Who:
Max of 50 students at each of our 23 elementary schools

Instructors: Lead and Assistant at each school

 

Cost: MOVE 60! is FREE to students. The funding for this program is from the Verdant Health Commission.

 

Assessment:  Fitness Gram Assessment Tool to assess student data

 

Location: Gym and outside play area

 

Weekly Schedule:

  • Running Club
  • Team Sports
  • Jump Rope Club
  • Alternative and Individual Sports and Activities


Note: Days vary for each school


Length of program: 10 weeks for 60 minutes per day, 4 days per week
