Welcome to your first school setting at Madrona. We are language based and all of our activities are centered around increasing each student's receptive and expressive language.

Lil’ Cogswell’s

Greetings from Lil’Cogswell! We have a total of 8 kids (2 first graders, 2 Kindergarteners, and 4 preschoolers) in our class this year. We are excited to have Elise, Leila, and PJ on our team again this year. We went on a couple field trips this past fall. The first one was to the Edmonds Center for the Arts where we watched a play called, “Doktor Kaboom.” The kids really enjoyed watching various Science experiments being done by Dr. Kaboom! The second one was to Kenmore Bowling Alley for our annual Thanksgiving bowling. The kids had so much fun socializing with friends, bowling, and eating pizza! Then, we had a few on-site field trips here at Madrona. First, we attended our annual Fun Run here at Madrona. We won 1st place for the best dressed group! We dressed up as a cookie monster! Second, a Firefighter came to visit both DHH Pre-School / Kindergarten, Primary, and Intermediate classes! We enjoyed listening to the firefighter explaining to us about his job. The best part about his visit was trying on his firefighter outfits! Alicen, who was in Kindergarten, had to move to a different school this past October. We gave her a farewell party. We miss her so much already! We hope she stops by for a visit sometime. Just a few weeks after Alicen left, Aidan joined our class. He is a 3 years old boy! We are having so much fun getting to know him better. Kassandra, our DHH Middle School student, is our Teacher’s Aide this year. We enjoyed having her help us in our classroom. She comes in from 11:30 – 12:30pm on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays and from 1:10 – 2:00pm on Mondays and Wednesdays. Kassandra used to be a pre-school student in our classroom with a different teacher a long time ago! She likes to share a few stories about her experience as a pre-school student in our classroom. We join Lori Schmidt’s DHH Intermediate class for Reading Peers on Thursdays. We always look forward to going to her class, because we love having the older DHH kids read the story to us! After they read the story to us, we draw a picture of the story together. It’s one of our favorite things about Reading Peers! We look forward to celebrating 100th day of school on February 22nd, going to the Edmonds Center for the Arts for a play in March, and continuing to learn new things in our class!

Happy 2016!
