With Homecoming early this year, the students got right to work and have been busy ever since. It’s been fun getting to know the new freshmen from Madrona and NW School, and to start letting go of our wonderful seniors.

Some of the highlights so far have been:

Yasmin is playing on the “C” team for Girl’s Basketball.

Nathan played JV tennis last fall.

Adrian played “C” team football.

Butch Zein, a deaf presenter from CA, led a session on Deafhood.

The Toy Drive for children residing at ADWAS was a success.

The Deaf Academic Bowl team (DAB) is prepping for the West Regional Competition in Fremont, CA in early March. Team members include: Jake, Milo, Riley and Harland

A couple of other items to note:

Cheyenna has been nominated for the Gypsy Rose Lee award for excellence in performance in a play as a supporting actor. This was for the production of “Sound”. You can check this out at: www.miryamtheatremusings.blogspot.com

Lori Seago is taking a leave of absence for 4 months during the second semester to do volunteer work in Micronesia. She will be assisting with setting up services for their deaf children in Chuuk. In case you are wondering where in the world is Micronesia, find Australia and go north past Papua New Guinea. J She will return mid-May.
