Summer School 2024
What program will Edmonds be using for Summer School?
- Graduation Alliance
- The courses are all online and students work independently with the support of their online instructor or may attend the “Drop-In Lab” for additional support from an in-person teacher.
What are the program dates?
- Registration Opens - May 1, 2025
- Registration Deadline - June 25, 2025
- Coursework Completion - June 30 - July 24, 2025
- Final Exams Only - July 25 - July 31, 2025
- Students may work ahead, but coursework and final exams have required completion dates.
Is there a fee for Summer School?
- Credit Recovery - $125*
- New Credit - $325
If you want to take both Credit Recovery and a New Credit Course, it’s one fee, not both - $325
Families who qualify for Free and Reduced Lunch Meals during the 2024-25 school year will have their fee reduced to $40.00
Are students required to attend in person?
- No, it is all online. Students work independently.
- Drop-In Lab available Monday-Thursday
What is the “Drop-In Lab” schedule and location?
- June 30 - July 24, 2025, Monday - Thursday
- 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
- Located at Alderwood Middle School
- The lab is optional and not required
What is considered credit recovery?
- Credit recovery is for students who previously lost credit due to failing grades such as F, NC, or I, currently on their transcript.
- Students will receive a letter grade for successful completion of the course.
What is First-Time/New Credit?
- Courses you have never attempted to take and are working ahead to earn graduation requirements.
- Limited courses available, we are offering elective Art Courses, Personal Finance, PE, and Health
Will letter grades be awarded for summer school courses?
Yes, students will receive the letter grade earned on their transcript upon successful completion of the course.
IMPORTANT- REQUIREMENT FOR SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF A COURSE
- To earn percentage/letter grade credit for a course, students must:
- Complete coursework with a cumulative average grade of 60% or higher.
- Complete a final exam with a grade of 60% or higher
- We cannot finalize grades for students who have not met the final exam grade requirements.
- Eligibility:
- Final exams will be unlocked only if a student receives a grade for all assignments in the course and is passing the class with an overall grade of at least 60%.
- Students may attempt the final exam THREE times to pass with a grade above 60%. There is no option to improve your final grade, only to pass the final exam.
What happens if a student starts a summer school class and realizes they will not be able to finish the course? What is entered on the student's transcript?
- Nothing, no entry is made to the transcript
- There will be no refunds past June 30, 2025.
