Edmonds School District

Edmonds Preschool

The Edmonds Preschool program is open to all children residing within the district boundaries who are between the ages of three to five years old by September 1. The main programming site is located at the Alderwood Early Childhood Center (AECC) in Lynnwood. In addition, we have expanded the preschool program with locations at Lynndale Elementary, Chase Lake Elementary, Edmonds Elementary, and Maplewood.

The Edmonds Preschool program is an inclusive model designed for a wide range of children. As part of the educational program, all preschool students are enrolled in inclusive classrooms creating a welcoming community for everyone. Each classroom consists of students who qualify for special education services, students who qualify for tuition support through state funding (ECEAP), and students who attend by paying tuition.

Families, in collaboration with lead teachers, play an important role in creating a welcoming community in which all strengths are valued, and everyone belongs.

Staff

The classified lead teachers are highly qualified early childhood educators who serve a diverse range of learners. In addition, as partner teachers, certificated Special Education teachers provide specially-designed instruction in our preschool classrooms. Each classroom is additionally supported by educational assistants, as well as a Speech-Language Pathologist, Occupational Therapist, and Physical Therapist.
