The Edmonds School District Title VI Native American Education Program is a dedicated initiative designed to support the academic success and cultural enrichment of our Native students.

Our program is funded through the federal Indian Education grant and is tailored to meet state academic standards while addressing the unique cultural, language, and educational needs of Native students. Our goal is to provide a supportive environment that not only fosters academic excellence but also honors and celebrates Native heritage. We try to align with the Edmonds school district's mission of advocating for each and every student by providing learning environments that embrace their cultural and linguistic diversity as an asset that will prepare them for success as lifelong learners and responsible world citizens.

Here are some of the key components of our program:

  1. Cultural Events: We organize and host various cultural events throughout the year. These events offer students opportunities to engage with and celebrate their cultural heritage in meaningful ways.

  2. Native Library: Our program features a library that includes a diverse collection of resources reflecting Native cultures, histories, and experiences. This library serves as a valuable tool for both educational and personal growth.

  3. Resource Assistance: We are here to support students and families with a range of academic and college preparation resources. This includes connecting students with tutors, assisting with university applications, FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid), and scholarship opportunities.

We believe that by combining academic support with cultural enrichment, we can provide a holistic educational experience for our Native students. Our goal is to empower them to succeed both in their studies and in their personal lives, while staying connected to their cultural roots.

We look forward to working closely with you and your child. If you have any questions or need more information about the Title VI Indian Education Program, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.

In recognition of the Point Elliott Treaty, As an Native Educator, I recognize that the land that Edmonds School District stands on is the lands and waters of the Lushootseed speaking Peoples the Coast Salish Tribes. I am committed to creating space for these and other Indigenous peoples through my mentorship, teaching, research, and academic service.
