Your student's daily schedule is designed to provide experience in:

• Concert Band or Orchestra
• Concert Choir
• Vocal/Instrumental Jazz
• Vocal/Instrumental Ensembles
• Preparatory Program for 6th Graders
• Exciting and Fun Electives!

A program designed for all students entering 6th grade next year to gain experience in Wind/Percussion or string instruments prior to the school year starting. All 6th graders will automatically be registered for this course. (If your 6th grade student already has experience with a wind/percussion or string instrument please contact the director.) 

These performance groups are designed to offer students a daily experience in their major performing ensemble (band or orchestra). They will rehearse and perform a variety of music at all levels.

All students participate in Concert Choir and have elective opportunities in vocal ensembles, musical theater, select choir, and jazz choir. In each group students gain experience in vocal production and performance skills.

Each student will be scheduled for two exciting elective choices which will meet daily. These groups offer opportunities for students to try new musical activities and gain expanded experiences in their core study. Instruments will be supplied.

Refund Policy

Overview:

The Edmonds School District Summer Music & Arts Camp is a three-week program running June 22^nd  through July 10th 2026. Camp tuition is $385.00 per participant. Tuition is not pro-rated for late arrivals or early departures. All refund requests must be submitted in writing to Summer Music & Arts Camp administrative office to Lindsay Morris In VPA Office. Refunds will be processed in accordance with the schedule outlined below.

Refund Schedule

Full Refund — 100% = $385.00. (Service fee’s will not be refunded)

A full refund will be issued for cancellations received on or before Friday, June 5, 2026 — a minimum of two weeks prior to the camp start date. No cancellation fee will be assessed for requests submitted by this date (this does not include the service fee).

Partial Refund — 50%  = $192.50

A 50% refund will be issued for cancellations received between Saturday, June 6, 2026 and Saturday, June 20, 2026 — within two weeks of the camp start date but prior to the first day of camp. No refund will be issued for cancellations received on or after June 21, 2026.

No Refund

No refund of any amount will be issued for cancellations received on or after the camp start date of Sunday, June 21, 2026, or for participants who choose to withdraw, arrive late, or depart early once the camp session has begun. Tuition is non-transferable and non-pro-rated under any circumstances after this date.

How to Submit a Refund Request

All refund requests must be submitted in writing via email or letter to the Summer Music & Arts Camp administrative office. Requests will be honored based on the date they are received. Verbal cancellations will not be accepted. Please allow up to two weeks for approved refunds to be processed and returned by the original method of payment.

Additional Notes

Tuition is not pro-rated for late arrivals, early departures, or absences of any duration during the camp session.

The district reserves the right to cancel the camp due to unforeseen circumstances, in which case a full refund will be issued to all enrolled participants.

Summer Music School (SMS) Frequently Asked Questions

Q - Is transportation provided?

A – Sorry, transportation is NOT provided to and from SMS.  

 

Q – Do I have to bring my instrument every day?

A - Yes, unless it is not easily transportable, like a piano.  Please label your instrument and case to avoid mix ups.

 

Q - What about instruments for the electives classes?

A – Instruments for your elective classes will be provided.

 

Q – How do I get the newsletter and photos for SMS?

A – Newsletters will be sent to in-district and out-of-district families through ParentSquare, the ESD communications platform.  Newsletters will provide you with photo links, information about the July 4^th Parade, crazy hat/hair day, red-white-&-blue day, and more.  

 

Q – How do I report an absence?

A – Please report absences to Jennifer Schillen at schillenj@edmonds.wednet.edu or call her at 425-431-5057.

 

Q – My child is really nervous about going to SMS.  What should I do?

A – Hang in there!  All the students are nervous the first few days and feel insecure about their skills.  Then they realize that everyone is there to learn something new, and that summer music school is FUN!  

 

Q – Is a snack or lunch provided?

A – No. Please bring a water bottle and snack from home for morning break.

 

Q – When and where are the concerts?

A – The final concert is on July 9^th, 7pm in the Mountlake Terrace High School Gym. On the last day of SMS, July 10^th, there will be elective concerts throughout the day.  Schedule TBD.

 

Q – How do I apply for financial assistance?

A – Financial assistance is limited.  Check with your choir/band/orchestra teacher if you would like to apply.
