Elementary Instrument Loaner Program
Elementary District Instruments
The Edmonds School District Elementary Instrument Program is designed to support our mission to "ensure that all students are provided the opportunity to participate in a remarkable music education through quality instruction and materials..." It is the intent of this instrument loan program to support students eligible for Free & Reduced Lunch, so that they may participate in our comprehensive instrumental music program.
Instruments will be loaned at no charge to students eligible for Free & Reduced Lunch per school year. In all cases, these are gently used but functional instruments. They are not new. While all students may request a loaner instrument, priority consideration will be extended to those who might not be able to participate because of the financial expenses associated with the retail rental or purchase of requisite instruments.
Because of limited resources and in accordance with this philosophy, all of our Edmonds SD loaned instruments will be made available for use on a first-come, first-served basis. We ask that your request for a district rental instrument be based on a consideration of need, not convenience.
Participating students are expected to use these instruments at school and at home, and must demonstrate good attendance & performance progress in class as well as school-related performances. Any student using a school loaned instrument is fully responsible for the care of that instrument as if it were their own. Any loaned instruments' repair/replacement is the responsibility of the participating student/parent/guardian (see MA-3 Instrument Loan Agreement). Students must return the instrument at the end of the school year or at any time a student is exiting the instrumental music program.
