Boundary Review Committee
The Edmonds School District has formed a Boundary Review Committee to evaluate current school attendance boundaries and develop new proposals for the Superintendent and School Board to consider. The committee is working closely with district staff and technical consultant FLO Analytics to guide the process.
Following a call for interested members in mid-November, the committee was formed and held its first meeting in January. The group will meet five times this semester, along with two community open house meetings where all families and community members are invited to learn about the committee’s progress and provide feedback.

Why This Work Is Needed
This committee and engagement process is needed to support the following changes:
-
Create an attendance boundary for a new middle school opening in fall 2028
- Reconfigure the elementary school grades from K-6 to K-5, with 6th grade moving to five middle schools
- Balance the number of students at each elementary school and middle school to efficiently and effectively distribute staffing and resources
The review and engagement process aligns with Policy 6960 and Boundary Review Committee Charge and Guiding Principles to ensure every student has access to age-appropriate programming and the support they need to learn and succeed.
