File Upload Submission Type for Students

How to upload and submit a NonGoogle File Type to Canvas. For example a png, jpeg, pdf

​1. Click to open the Assignment

2. Click on Start Assignment

3. Click on Upload File Button

At the bottom of the page you will see multiple tabs. You will want the File Upload Tab and the Upload File Button. This option does not work with Google Documents.

4. Select Choose File Button

This will open a window with a link to your files.

• Find the file you want to submit

• Click on it and choose to add it

• The file name will show up next to the Choose File Button.

• If you need to add multiple files, select +Add Another File

5. Click on Submit Assignment

Google File Upload Submission Type for Students

How to upload and submit a Google file for a Canvas Assignment submission. Google Files include Google Docs, Slides, Sheets, Drawings, and Jamboards.

1. Click on the Canvas Assignment to open it.

2. Click on Start Assignment

3. Click on the Google Drive (LTI 1.3) Tab

4. Click on Select file

5. Select My Drive Tab

If you have recently opened your document, you may see it in the Recent Tab and can select it from there.

6. Select Document that you want to upload

Remember, this submission type is for Google Documents, Slides, Sheets, Drawings, or Jamboards.

7. Click on Add

8. Click on Attach

9. Click on Submit Assignment

Attached File name will show on the submission page above the Submit Assignment Option.
