Child Find

The Edmonds School District's child find process ensures that all residents and private schools within the district are made aware of the special education and related services offered by the district. The purpose of Child Find is to locate, evaluate, and identify children age birth to 21 years with suspected disabilities in need of special education services. Child Find seeks to reach children residing within the school district boundaries, children attending private elementary and secondary schools located within the district boundaries, highly mobile children (such as homeless, foster care, and migrant children), children who have a disability and may need special education services even though they are advancing from grade to grade, and children at home or home schooled.
