English Language Arts

Our Literacy program forms a foundation for learning as it encompasses reading, writing, and communication skills and processes. We believe that literacy, at the heart of the matter, is about learning to make meaning using all forms of language expression. Our program is guided by research and the Washington State Grade Level Expectations which describe what students should know and be able to do on the journey to literacy proficiency. At all elementary levels of literacy, students are supported in learning literacy skills and processes leading to knowledge and critical thinking strategies necessary to become competent, purposeful lifelong readers, writers, and communicators.
