Click here to go to the WCAP Portal (WA Comprehensive Assessment Program) to get to the Practice and Training Test site for Washington.
Select the Practice and Training Tests button from that page, and it will take you to the login page. On the login page, you can enter as a Guest (no need for student name or test session).
Sample tests come in two categories:
- Training Tests (short sample tests) - Note: some training tests go by "grade band" meaning the questions within them come from tests at multiple grade levels, so the difficulty level may not exactly align with your own grade level. For example, the Math Training Test provided for a Third grader is titled Math Grades 3-5 Training Test, meaning there may be sample questions included at grade level 3, 4, and 5.
- Practice Tests (full-length sample tests - comparable to the real test at your grade level)
How to Find the Correct Answers to Questions on Practice and Training Tests
Although student responses are not saved or scored within Practice and Training Tests, the website for the Smarter Balanced Consortium contains Scoring Guides for the Practice Tests. A Scoring Guide gives correct answers as well as guidelines as to how more complex questions would be scored. There are also sample items available on that same website.
