Superintendent Student Advisory Committee
Calling All Edmonds School District High School Students! We want to hear from you - apply to be part of the Superintendent’s Student Advisory Committee.
The Edmonds School District Superintendent's Student Advisory Committee (SSAC) is dedicated to fostering student involvement, leadership, diversity, and advocacy across the Edmonds School District. The SSAC creates a platform for students to voice concerns, brainstorm solutions, and directly communicate with the district’s superintendent. SSAC also aims to enhance the school experience for all students. We strive to build a stronger, more inclusive district where students lead the way in shaping their educational futures. We do this through meaningful committee discussions, transparent communication, and a commitment to equity.
The SSAC is made up of students from all of the District's high schools, and includes students from grades 9-12. Through participating in the SSAC, you will have the opportunity to work alongside our Superintendent, Dr. Rebecca Miner, and other district leaders. You will also develop your leadership, advocacy, and collaboration skills alongside a diverse community of peers. The SSAC meets at the District central office (ESC) twice a month; a 1 hour meeting with Dr. Miner and district leadership, and a 90 minute meeting to participate in professional development centered around advocacy and equity issues.
Students furthest from educational justice are encouraged to apply, including students who identify as Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC), LGQBTIA+, Multilingual Learners, undocumented students, homeless/unhoused students, foster students, and students with disabilities.
Applications for the SSAC are due no later than Sunday, May 11th, and finalists should plan to participate in a short zoom interview in the afternoon during the week of May 12th-15th. The Superintendent's office will notify applicants of the results by Friday, May 23rd.
Please note that the application process for Freshmen (9th grade) will open at the start of the school year in September 2025.
