Upgrades and Renewals

The first phase of the Mountlake Terrace Highschool HVAC project completed this September with functional replacement of the boilers, domestic hot water systems and associated pumps. The district is entering negotiations to establish a guaranteed maximum price with the progressive design builder, Hermanson Company, for Installation of new supply, return and exhaust fans, chilled water and associated ductwork. Work for the airside and chillers would proceed immediately, with non disruptive scopes all school year and finishing in August 2025.

Various efforts are underway to reduce the district's overall energy consumption and to comply with the clean buildings act. HVAC scheduling has been adjusted district wide, especially off the heels of changes made during Covid to reduce unnecessary runtime of equipment. Aging boiler infrastructure is being replaced with new high efficiency and reliable models, this effort is starting at our older single boiler elementary schools Sherwood Elementary, Edmonds Elementary among others. LED replacements are underway at Lynnwood High and Edmond Woodway High and will be followed by our other secondary sites. We are also in the process of performing Ashrae II Audits at our largest sites which will identify further energy efficiency measures (EEM’s) which we will begin to execute as soon as funding is available.
