The Mountlake Terrace High School HVAC Project reached substantial completion on 8/29/2025. The system is currently undergoing testing and balancing, as well as final commissioning. Over the next year the system will continue to be tuned to run smoothly and efficiently, increasing comfort for students and staff, reducing the operational noise of the system and reducing the building’s energy consumption.
The geothermal well drilling and all roofing work have been completed. As part of the ongoing project, a new synthetic turf field will be installed. The project is currently in the Project Design Review (PDR) process with the City of Lynnwood. The District has enjoyed partnering with the City through this process. The Fieldhouse project has the beginnings of a roof and temporary bracing of the side walls have been removed! Steel trusses are in, roof decking has been completed, and storefront windows have recently arrived on site for installation. The first concrete pour at the south side of the building shows a preview of what the adjacent plaza will look like. Plumbing & electrical are also underway, with preparation for mechanical systems occurring in the coming weeks.

Construction across all areas is progressing steadily. Wall painting and installation of casework, ceiling grids, doors, and sheet metal flashing are underway, while the steel skybridge connecting the classroom wings is structurally complete and concrete has been poured. The public wing has seen MEP rough-ins, drywall finishing, exterior cladding, skylight installations, and canopy erection, with the ground-level concrete walkway poured. Roadwork on 18th Ave and Oak Road is complete, fencing has been installed, and preparations for landscaping have begun. Sidewalk and curb concrete work was ready for students to access the bus for the start of school, and geothermal well drilling and pipe installation are almost complete.
