Terrace Park Elementary School

Terrace Park School

Project Description

The new Terrace Park School opened to students February 2002.

Demolition of the existing Terrace Park School (including the Gymnasium and Shop Buildings) commenced in the summer of 2000 and a new building was constructed in the same location on the site.

The playfields to the north of the property remained as they were, but with improved access from the south side of the property. The single, enclosed building is organized into five learning clusters (three on the main level and two on the second floor), aligned along a primary circulation spine running the length of the school. The classroom clusters are oriented toward the quiet, west side of the property, while the more communal functions such as the gymnasium and commons are oriented toward the east, near parking and public access. The new school has a capacity of 700 students.

Project Features

  • 30 Classrooms, including a Transitions classroom with its own toilet, shower, and laundry facilities.
  • A linked Gymnasium and Commons that supports community functions as well as school program requirements.
  • Library Media Center with story/presentation area, reading nooks, and adjacent computer lab.
  • Outdoor learning gardens with multiple teaching opportunities.
