Seaview Elementary opened to students in the fall of 1997. This project, like Meadowdale High School, was a Modernization of some of the existing buildings combined with new construction.
Built around a central courtyard theme, much of the building was based on the original floor plan of the classrooms. Existing classrooms were reused and upgraded. New mechanical systems were built into the attics that were added over the classrooms, such as new heating duct system to replace the old underground system. A new library and administration building were constructed.
Although the design was somewhat dictated by the use of some existing buildings, improved separation of bus and parent drop off areas was achieved. The existing playshed was enclosed to house the art/music program. A new gym, separate from the main buildings, was constructed and the old gym/multipurpose area was converted into a commons/foodservice area.
