Salish Middle School Project Updates
Salish Middle School: Demo & Earthwork Underway
Construction is underway for Salish Middle School. The existing Former Alderwood Middle School Building has been successfully and safely demolished and the area is in the process of being cleaned and prepared for grading.
Grading and site utilities have been completed for the new parking lot near Alderwood Mall Parkway and paving will begin soon. Mass excavation and grading is underway for the new building foundations and footings. Drilling for the geothermal system is progressing steadily.
Fencework will begin soon and proceed through November to establish the new secure site perimeter, while this work is being completed some neighboring properties may be affected if they do not have their own fencing, notification letters have been sent to the owners of these properties.
Salish Middle School: Construction Start and Groundbreaking
Groundbreaking was held on June 17th for Salish Middle School, With members of the Edmonds School District board, cabinet members, administrators, students, designers, contractors, city officials, media, and community members in attendance. This marks the official start of construction for the new Salish Middle School Project.
Oak Heights Elementary staff utilizing the existing Former Alderwood Middle school as their interim site will begin to be moved into the new Oak heights elementary school immediately and as soon as the building is unoccupied demolition of the Former Alderwood Middle Building will begin.
The site will be transferred to control of Spee West Contractors and no longer be accessible to school staff or the public for the duration of construction through summer 2028. Site safety is the highest priority for all Edmonds School Districts projects.
We are excited to start construction on the School Districts fifth middle school which will serve the students and community for years to come.
Salish Middle School: Intersection Under Construction
Intersection work has started at the new entry way off of Alderwood Mall Parkway, across the street from Lowes! The new driveway will be used as construction access only until the school opens in 2028.
The building permit for the newly named Salish Middle School is being reviewed by the City of Lynnwood. Bidding for all construction packages for the main Building will take place in April.
