Students with Life Threatening Conditions
Posted on 07/14/2021
Student HealthAny student with a Life Threatening condition needs to comply with the state law (RCW 28A.210.320) before they can attend school. A "life-threatening condition" means a health condition that will put the child in danger of death during the school day if a medication or treatment order and a nursing plan are not in place. These are legal requirements put in place to protect your student’s health and safety.

1. A Nursing Care Plan
2. Health Care Provider Orders for Medication/Equipment and Medication Authorization forms
3. Medication and/or equipment as needed to support the health condition.

These essentials must be in place before your student can start school. Medications, equipment, and authorizations can be delivered to your student’s school on or before Tuesday, August 24 in order to guarantee that your student will be able to start on the first day of school. The building nurse requires time to review all the materials and create a school health care plan to keep your student safe. If these elements are provided after the deadline date, first day attendance cannot be guaranteed.

The forms for medication or treatment orders are found on the district main website, under Health Services/Nurses, under either Life-Threatening Conditions or Medication at School Policy.

Please call your school’s main office after August 12th if you have questions.

Thank you.
