Way to Go! High School Food Drives Benefit Local Food Banks

Each of our school communities throughout the entire school calendar year are scheduled to hold drives on behalf of the local food banks that in turn, serve the very families in our District.

 

Our four comprehensive high schools traditionally during late fall stage massive collection efforts and this year was no different.

 

Lynnwood High – Students collected:

  • Over 8,000 pounds equal to nearly 11,000 food items.
  • $6,100 in cash donations
  • The 6th annual effort was the school’s most successful effort to date, organizers said.

 

Meadowdale High – Students collected:

  • 1,571 pounds of food for the Lynnwood Food Bank, an increase of 600 pounds from 2016-17.Additionally, March 1-28, 2018 students will hold their largest food drive of the school year – “Munch Madness.”

  • 20,000 plus pounds of food collected

Mountlake Terrace High – Students collected:

  • 6,429 cans of food 
  • $1,529 for the food bank

 

Edmonds-Woodway High – Students collected:

  • 10,000 pieces of non-perishable food
  • Approximately $3,000 for the Edmonds Food Bank
