School Meals: How You Can Contribute to Assist Families in Need
Posted on 12/05/2017
Last Spring, we were pleased to share that generous contributions from our families and community erased existing student meal debts through the 2016-17 school year.
Understandably, we continue to have families in need who are unable to repay for meals provided to students. These are households who currently qualify for free or reduced price meals, but received meals prior to approval. This dollar amount fluctuates as those qualifying for the free and reduced program are identified and approved, but the total amount currently owed is more than $7,000 as of Nov. 27, 2017.
“Many individuals have expressed interest in assisting these families,” said Barbara Lloyd, Director of Food and Nutrition Services.
Donations can be made online at https://wa-edmonds-lite.
“While we have debt that has been incurred by full-priced pay families, we want to ensure those interested in donating that your contributions will go specifically to households that have qualified for free and reduced meals and incurred meal debts prior to qualification approval.”
