Save the Date: Community Event in Support of our LGBT*Q+ Students and Families

Posted on 12/18/2017

The goal of the LGBT*Q+ community event is to support our LGBT*Q+ students and families, organizers said. The hope is this event continues to foster community in our district.

“We are excited for this event; it will be the first time we have invited all parties who have expressed interest to learn together,” said Sally Guzman, our District’s Family Engagement Specialist. “We are also very aware depression and suicide rates for our LGBT*Q+ students are two to three times higher than that of their counterparts.”

Come learn about gender diversity, listen to stories from families and students, and support students, even when they don’t understand their own identity, Guzman explained.

Childcare will be provided for children ages 3 and up, who are toilet trained.

The event is Jan. 17, 5:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. at Verdant Health Center, 4710 196th St. SW, Lynnwood 98036. Registration: https://goo.gl/forms/9G5xL1UAyrxWhS653 Families that need interpretation must register in advance: We need 3 days to schedule interpreters for events.
