Free Swim Vouchers Available to Third Grade Students
Free Swim Vouchers Available to Third Grade Students
Posted on 01/30/2018
Earlier this month, third grade students received three vouchers for free swimming lessons. The vouchers were released a little later than usual because of updates to the new swim program.
Each third grade student received a three voucher sheet good for three sets of swimming lessons, redeemable at either the Lynnwood Pool, Mountlake Terrace Pool, Yost (Edmonds) Pool or YMCA Dale Turner Pool. Vouchers have the student’s name and specific voucher number printed on them and are in English and Spanish. Please contact Patty Schultz at (425) 431-7147 with any questions regarding lost vouchers or if you need additional vouchers.
The program is made possible through a grant by Verdant Health Commission in cooperation with the cities of Edmonds, Lynnwood, and Mountlake Terrace.
Key details of the new grant are:
- All third grade students will still receive the swim vouchers via the school District; however, the voucher will only be good for lessons in levels 1-4 (water safety/learn to swim), not higher level swim lessons. Previously, vouchers could be used for any level of classes.
- The swim vouchers will be valid for a calendar year as opposed to a school year/summer.
- Pool staff will still come out to third grade physical education classes this spring to do the water safety lessons.
- New this year: Any school-age child who does not know how to swim can also receive a swim voucher for free beginning lessons. This includes all students in grades K-12 and students with special needs. Families will have to contact the pool for details on how to get these beginning swim vouchers.
