Coming soon! Free voluntary COVID-19 testing in our schools

Posted on 04/26/2021

The Edmonds School District, in partnership with the Washington Department of Health and Health Commons Project, will soon offer free testing for all students and staff who develop symptoms while on-campus.

Testing in our schools is a strategy that we can utilize to mitigate COVID-19 transmission. Families won't need to go to another place to receive a test. It's self administered and we hope it will help get students back into classrooms quickly.

We’re partnering with a company called Curative, which uses reliable oral swab test kits. Students and staff will collect their own saliva samples under the observation of trained test administrators. Results will be provided within 48 hours.

Each precaution we take is like an added layer of protection, and when used together, they dramatically decrease the risks.

The district will begin offering COVID-19 testing in schools through a pilot at three schools: Spruce Elementary, Meadowdale High and Meadowdale Middle. We hope to expand this offering to all schools in mid-late May.
