PSAT Cancellation

PSAT Cancellation

Posted on 09/28/2020

Dear Students and Families,

The Edmonds School District is committed to keeping our students safe while supporting our students as they navigate the college admissions process. Over the past several years each fall, we have offered the PSAT assessment in our high schools during the school day for our students. Unfortunately, during the current COVID-19 health crisis, testing in our schools and classrooms cannot be done safely, and there is no remote model for administering the PSAT at this time. Therefore, we will not be offering this assessment in the fall, and there will be no make-up session for the school day PSAT this year.

In addition, while the Edmonds School District does not provide SAT testing, many testing sites in our region are cancelling SAT testing due to similar Covid-19 safety concerns. Although this may raise many questions about college admissions, these are the same challenges faced by every college applicant and every college admissions board in the country right now. In response, the majority of colleges in the United States are now waiving testing requirements for next year, and an increasing number are waiving testing requirements for the next four or more years. For more information on this, you may wish to check college websites for the latest on their admissions requirements.

While we realize this is a stressful time for our students applying to colleges, our high school counselors will be working diligently to help students successfully navigate the college admission process, and are available to answer questions and concerns related to this process.

We are all in this together, and we will get through it together.  Take care and stay safe.

Regards,
