2021-22 School Year Intent

2021-22 School Year Intent

Posted on 07/30/2021

Families will receive student-specific emails about their intent for fall 2021 and if they are enrolled for in-person learning or one of our online programs.

The option to change student intent is available through August 6, 2021. After that requests for change will be considered on a case-by-case basis, which consider space and proper staffing. Changing a student's intent has significant impact on schedules and staffing.

Full time in-person learning
The district will offer full time in-person learning for the 2021-22 school year. The district will follow all state and local health guidelines, including mask wearing and social distancing requirements.

Online learning programs
The online learning programs will be different from last school year’s remote learning model where students were still enrolled in their neighborhood school and taught by teachers from that school. For the 2021-22 School Year, district online learning programs will act as separate schools with their own teachers and staff.

Edmonds K-8 Online Academy
Students in kindergarten through 8th grade who choose fully remote learning will be enrolled in the Edmonds K-8 Online Academy.

  • Our elementary students, kindergarten through 6th grade, will have a full day of learning activities including live (Zoom/synchronous) instruction, specialist classes such as physical education, music, and library, and individualized learning time (asynchronous).
  • Our middle school students will have a six period day with at least five periods of live (Zoom/synchronous) instruction. They will also have the option of taking an elective, physical education, or a course for high school credit (for which they qualify) through our Edmonds eLearning Academy.

Edmonds eLearning Academy
Our 9th through 12th grade students who choose to be fully remote will be enrolled in Edmonds eLearning Academy.
