Blueprint 2025

Blueprint 2025

In fall of 2018, Edmonds School District launched a process called Blueprint 2025 to create a new community-driven strategic plan to guide and measure the district’s work.

While the previous Strategic Direction called “Our Commitments” set a tone for the district, it was not very actionable. Superintendent Kristine McDuffy and the leadership team wanted to develop a plan with more specific goals and measurable targets. Dr. McDuffy and her team also wanted to ensure that the new strategic directions were shaped by the community and the students the district serves.
In mid-October we launched our steering committee to help guide the Blueprint 2025 process. The steering committee helped guide outreach efforts to ensure that the process was inclusive and that we reached as many stakeholders as possible. The group also helped process feedback we received from stakeholders, reviewed initial draft plans, helped draft and edit goals, and narrow the draft plans down to a select few options.

The work was divided into two phases: Community engagement from October-May and then creation of the plan based on feedback from the community June-July.

Phase 1:

  • Meetings with stakeholders, including student, parent, staff and community groups
  • Online survey with 1,146 participants - available in top four languages
  • Three Edmonds School District News, community newsletter stories
  • March 11 community wide meeting, with interpreter services
  • Additional feedback form in May with more than 700 respondents - available in top four languages.

Phase 2

During phase two we narrowed the focus on the goal and started working on the key performance measures. Based on feedback from the community, overall, the majority of people liked option 1, People really liked the culture of kindness and global readiness, and several respondents suggested moving global readiness to priority goal 2.

The Steering Committee met on June 19 to finalize the language and start to narrow down the goals.
