Ashley Dawson is our MTHS Social Worker/Student Support Advocate. Her role is to work with students and families who are dealing with complex issues related to substance abuse, mental health, homelessness, health concerns, and lack of basic needs.
She collaborates with high school staff, families, and outside providers to identify and understand issues impacting a student's performance at school and helps develop strategies to overcome barriers.
Ashley works to connect students and families to resources within the community. These resources include food banks, mental health counseling, housing, medical insurance, clinics, legal resources, etc. Ashley also supports students at school with accessing free and reduced lunch, assistance with sports, activity, class fees, holiday resources, and school supplies. Ashley's support and advocacy for students and families is designed to orchestrate meaningful, positive and sustainable academic and social interventions.
Her office is located in the Counseling Center and she is available for students for drop in during lunch time and any other time with a pass from a teacher.
Parents and guardians can stop in or call any time. If you or your family are experiencing a crisis, please do not hesitate to call Ashley for support.
