Calling all Edmonds School District high school students! Apply today to be a part of the Superintendent Advisory Committee (SAC). Applications for the 2020-21 school year are due by Friday, Oct. 23, 2020.

WHAT IS THE SAC? WHY SHOULD I APPLY FOR IT?
The SAC is made up of student leaders in grades 9-12 from each of the district's high schools. Now, more than ever, we need YOUR voice at the table to share what your school communities need and how we can better support students.

Students furthest from educational justice, including students who identify as Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC), LGBTQIA+, English Language Learners, undocumented, homeless/unhoused, foster, and students with disabilities are encouraged to apply.

Through participating in the SAC, you will have the opportunity to work alongside our Superintendent, Dr. Balderas, and other district leaders. You will also develop your leadership, policymaking, and collaboration skills alongside a diverse community of peers.

We look forward to learning more about you and bringing our students directly into the process of creating a more equitable education system across Edmonds Schools.

SELECTION PROCESS:
1. Each district high school will promote/share this information with their students.
2. All the applications must be submitted via email to Edmonds School District, Department of Equity, and Student Success no later than Friday, Oct. 23, 2020. Please complete this form or email Joseph Valenti at valentij756@edmonds.wednet.edu with this information:

  • First & Last Name
  • School
  • Grade
  • Answer the following prompts:
    • Why are you interested in serving on this team? 
    • Describe your experiences with diversity in your school community. 
    • What qualities and skills do you bring to this team?
    • If selected for this team, what issues would you want to address? 

3. After applications are received, High School Administrators and District Office staff will review applicants and select the best candidates that represent each of our high schools. We will be looking for up to five representatives per school.
4. The Department of Equity and Student Success, along with building principals will notify applicants of their decision no later than Friday, Oct. 30, 2020.
5. Students selected for the SAB will be invited to its first meeting the week of Nov. 9, 2020.
