Move 60 is a before or after school exercise program for students in grades 2 – 6. The goal of the MOVE 60! Program is to get students active and exercising 60 minutes per day, Monday – Thursday. The program is intended to increase opportunities for student activity outside of the school day. The intention is to fight childhood obesity, improve student health issues, offer an opportunity to play sports, and to provide the physical, social, and emotional benefits of extra exercise to students.
There will be 3 sessions offered throughout the school year for in-person program 4 days per week Move 60:
Fall: October 4 – December 17
Winter: January 10 – March 18
Spring: April 11 – June 3, 2022
Move 60 Program Information:
- All families are encouraged to register online on the district website. Registration will open in September! Registration link is on the left on this page.
- Maximum of 50 students per school. Prior to the first session, staff (teachers, PE teacher, principal, nurse, etc) will identify “target” students – those with weight concerns, health issues, or lack of access to recreational opportunities. Those students will be given priority registration. Each session, students must re-register and target students will be able to re-enroll.
- At school, in the gym and outside play area
Weekly Move 60 Schedule:
Monday – Running/Walking Club
Tuesday – Team Sports/Large Group Games
Wednesday – Jump Rope Club
Thursday – Fitness Stations
*These days/schedule might differ at each school
Each student will be assessed throughout the session on several fitness areas:
* Aerobic capacity(pacer run) and muscular endurance(push-ups)

Move 60!, a FREE program, is starting its 8th year in the Edmonds School District. Thanks to
Verdant Health Commission, the program continues to provide our students in grades 2-6 with the opportunity to participate in 60 minutes of physical activity 4 days per week!
The goals for Move 60! program are:
1. Increase opportunities for student activity and exercise outside of the typical school day
2. Fight childhood obesity
3. Improve student chronic health issues
4. Offer an opportunity to play sports
5. Provide the physical, social, and emotional benefits of extra exercise for our students
The program operates in all 22 elementary schools plus Edmonds Heights K-12.
Length of Program: 10 weeks for 60 minutes per day, 4 days a week
Inclement Weather: If school is cancelled because of weather, Move 60! programs will be cancelled. If school is 2 hours late, then the morning Move 60! programs will be cancelled but the afternoon Move 60! programs will run as scheduled. If the Edmonds School District cancels after school activities then the Move 60! programs will be cancelled, too. All weather updates will also be on the Move 60! Facebook page.
