2000 - Superintendent of Schools



The superintendent shall be elected by the Board of Directors to be the chief executive officer of the district. The superintendent is responsible for the leadership of the district's schools and supporting functions in accord with policies adopted by the Board of Directors and State Law.

The superintendent shall be the secretary to the Board of Directors and perform such duties as are required by state statute and regulations, the superintendent's job description, and other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Board.

The superintendent is accountable to the Board. The Board and the superintendent shall mutually develop annual leadership goals. Such leadership goals will serve as the basis for at least an annual evaluation. This process shall be guided by an effort to support continuous improvement in the district's leadership based on performance.

The superintendent shall have the authority to organize the district staff in order to carry out the mission of the district. The superintendent shall further have the authority to accept resignations of district employees on behalf of the Board of Directors. The superintendent, at his/her discretion, may delegate to other district personnel the exercise of certain powers and duties assigned by these policies and/or by the Board of Directors. The delegation of any power or duty shall not relieve the superintendent of responsibility for the action taken under such delegation.
