Move 60!, a FREE program, is starting its 8th year in the Edmonds School District. Thanks to Verdant Health Commission, the program continues to provide our students in grades 2-6 with the opportunity to participate in 60 minutes of physical activity 4 days per week!

The goals for Move 60! program are:

1. Increase opportunities for student activity and exercise outside of the typical school day

2. Fight childhood obesity

3. Improve student chronic health issues

4. Offer an opportunity to play sports

5. Provide the physical, social, and emotional benefits of extra exercise for our students

Each student will be assessed at the beginning and end of each session using the Fitnessgram test protocols. The assessments include Aerobic Capacity (PACER run test), Muscular Strength and Endurance (push-up) and Body Mass Index (BMI). The data collected will be used as part of Move 60 program evaluation. Families can request a copy of their student's fitness results at any time by contacting program administrators.

The program operates in all 22 elementary schools plus Edmonds Heights K-12.

Length of Program: 10 weeks for 60 minutes per day, 4 days a week

Inclement Weather: If school is cancelled because of weather, Move 60! programs will be cancelled.  If school is 2 hours late, then the morning Move 60! programs will be cancelled but the afternoon Move 60! programs will run as scheduled.  If the Edmonds School District cancels after school activities then the Move 60! programs will be cancelled, too. All weather updates will also be on the Move 60! Facebook page.
