Early Entrance Enrollment
Early Entrance – 2024-2025 School Year
Early Entrance into Kindergarten or First Grade
Note: Applications are no longer being accepted for 2024-25 Early Entrance testing. Registration was open between March 1 and May 15, 2024.
Children who turn 5 (Kindergarten) or 6 (First Grade) years after August 31, 2024 and between September 1, 2024 and October 31, 2024 must meet specific District requirements for early entrance into kindergarten or first grade.
General information:
- Residence must be in the Edmonds School District boundary
- There is a $100 fee for testing (families whose income qualifies them for free and reduce lunch will have their fee waived)
- Early Entrance screening appointments will be emailed to parents
- Early Entrance screening will be conducted by District staff (results from private psychologists will not be accepted).
- Candidates are screened by a District team of Kindergarten teachers and/or school psychologists in a small-group setting
Gather and submit required documents:
- Submit proof of residency (for ex: utility bill)
- Submit proof of age (for ex: birth certificate or passport)
General Timeline for Early Entrance Application and Screening
- Friday, March 1, 2024 - Early Entrance process begins for the 2024-25 school year
- Wednesday May 15, 2024 - Early Entrance Screening Application Due
- Tuesday May 21, 2024 - MANDATORY parent/guardian meeting
- Saturday June 1, 2024 - Early Entrance Screening (parent/guardian must be in attendance and wait while the assessment is completed).
- End of June - Evaluation results emailed to parents
If Approved for Early Entrance
- Mid July through August - Enroll child at neighborhood school
- (Program eliminated for August 2024 due to budget reductions) - Child to attend Kindergarten Jump Start (MANDATORY for Early Entrance)
- September 4th, 5th or 6th - Attend Family Connection Meeting (appointments set by school)
- September 9, 2024 - Start school
