4010-R1 - Procedures Regarding Emergency Schedules and/or School Closures



School Closure(s)
A district-wide emergency schedule may be implemented or school closure(s) may be declared by the superintendent or his/her designee, as he/she deems appropriate.

In the event an individual building emergency exists or school closure appears necessary, the principal will make an appropriate recommendation to the superintendent or his/her designee for action.

The following classifications of employees are expected to report to their usual or an alternate work station unless otherwise instructed by their immediate supervisor (an immediate supervisor may alter the listing below by prior notification to employees).

  • Central office employees (exclusive of teachers and other nonsupervisory certificated personnel)
  • Principals and assistant principals
  • Office Managers
  • Maintenance personnel
  • Warehouse personnel
  • Custodians/grounds personnel
  • Transportation office personnel
  • Transportation shop personnel

Personnel who are not required or requested to report for duty will have the cancelled workday rescheduled by their immediate supervisor.

Emergency Schedules
In the event an emergency schedule is implemented which involves the late start of school, all employees should be at work at the regularly scheduled time. It is recognized, however, that circumstances can legitimately cause employees to arrive late. In the event employees are late in arriving, make-up time will be scheduled by the immediate supervisor.
