Students
Open "My Documents."
Can teachers view and manage student files?
Yes, teachers can view student files and put files into student digital lockers. There are shortcuts in your class folder that take you to each student's digital locker. A teacher can also delete files from student digital lockers, but only if the file was put there by the teacher.
How much storage is available?
1.0 GB per teacher digital locker.
0.5 GB per student digital locker.
0.5 GB per class folder (combination of inbox, outbox, & common folder).
What happens to the files at the end of the school year?
Files stored in teacher digital lockers will remain year to year.
For students up to 8th grade, files stored in digital lockers will be moved to archive at the end of every year, where it will be kept for one additional school year, and then purged. Beginning in 9th grade, files stored in student digital lockers will remain through 12th grade.
Files stored in class folders will be moved to archive 10 days after the end of the term in which the class is schedule to run, where it will be kept for one additional school year, and then purged.
How do I get student usernames?
There are two ways to find student usernames.
To get a printed list of student usernames, follow the instructions on creating a class roster with alphakeys on Skyward EA+.
To view student usernames, simply log onto WebWarden, select the class that the student is enrolled in, and a list of usernames will be displayed. This list cannot be printed.
Can students change their password?
Yes. In fact, the system will force students to change the password the first time they log onto the system.
After the first logon, students can change the password at any time by hitting Ctrl-Alt-Del, and clicking on the "Change Password" button (Students must be logged onto the MISO network to do this).
Students can also change the password at any time through WebTrekker™ by clicking on the keys icon next to the logoff button on the top right corner.
How do I get student passwords?
As a security measure, student passwords cannot be retrieved in the Account-Ability system. If a student forgets his/her password, it can be reset to the initial format by any of the student's teachers via WebWarden.
What would constitute misuse of the student accounts and what are the recommended consequences?
Board policy is the best reference. http://staff.edmonds.wednet.edu/users/kernsj/7000/7396r1.htm
Will students be able to access their digital lockers from outside the district?
Yes. WebTrekker™ provides web-based access for teachers and students to their digital lockers, class folders, and Homework Interchange from any computer that is connected to the internet.
The URL is http://webtrekker.edmonds.wednet.edu
What are the system requirements for using Account-Ability?
For digital lockers, class folders, Homework Interchange, and WebWarden: Windows 2000 or above.
For WebTrekker: All major internet browsers are compatible, including Internet Explorer, Safari, and Firefox.
Does it work on Macs?
Mac users can access their digital locker, class folders, and Homework Interchange through WebTrekker™.
Sorry, WebWarden™ is not compatible with Macs.
When will new students have access to the system?
Account-Ability gets all its data nightly from Skyward, our district's student information system. When a student enrolls, withdraws, or changes his/her schedule, it is reflected in Account-Ability by the next morning.
Why do I see two folders for my class?
Elementary school teachers will see two folders for their class. State law requires that attendance be recorded twice a day, so elementary classes are scheduled twice in Skyward. Since scheduling information is extracted from Skyward, two folders are created.
It is best to always use the 1st period folder and advise your students to do the same.
Some of my students are having trouble dropping files in the Inbox, what might be wrong?
The most common cause is the name of the file. All files in the Inbox must have a unique filename. If a student tries to drop a file in the Inbox that has the same filename as another file already in the Inbox, it will be rejected by the system.
It is important to have students incorporate an identifier (e.g., the student's name) in the name of the file if you ask students to turn in homework to you electronically through the Inbox.
For example:
Good: "Chapter 1 Quiz Mary Smith.doc" or "Chapter 1 Quiz SMITHMAR000.doc"
Not-so-good: "Math Homework.xls" or "John's paper.doc"
