Getting Computers to Accept Student Logons
NOTE: These directions only apply to Windows-based computers with Windows 2000 or XP.
Students can only log onto designated computers such as mobile labs and student tech tools.
If you would like students to be able to log onto additional computers, please create a Web Help Desk ticket or send an email to your level-1 school tech coordinator with the following information:
- Room number
- Computer names (see directions below)
- What network printers you want automatically set up for students when they log on (see directions below)
- Which network printer should be the default

Getting Computer Names
In order to make computers accept student logons, techs need to know the exact computer name. Please follow these steps to identify the computer name:
- Right-click on My Computer
- From the menu that opens, choose Properties
- In the window that opens click the Computer Name tab
- The computer name is the numbers or text to the right of Full computer name:, just before .edmonds.wednet.edu. In the example above, the computer name is 0080674FXA.
- Click Cancel or the red X to close the window
My Computer should be located either on the desktop or in the Start menu.

NOTE: If your computer name is not followed by .edmonds.wednet.edu, please so indicate in the ticket or let your tech know "the computer is not in the miso domain."
Getting Network Printer Names
When students log onto computers as themselves, they will not have printers installed unless you create a ticket or otherwise let Technology know which printers you want students to use. If you manually install printers on the computers, they will not work for all students.
Follow these directions to select which network printers you want installed automatically:
