Maplewood Center
The Maplewood Center program serves students aged 5-21 with moderate to severe developmental disabilities.
Students are taught through a team approach with emphasis on functional life skills (self-care, self-management,
social skills, pre-academic skills, communication), community orientation, and recreational/leisure activities.
At the secondary level, vocational training and work experiences are also emphasized. Staff facilitates
transition of students to adult systems within DSHS for community vocational placement. There are four classes
in the program, including one K-3 Autism class and one class for students with emotional/behavioral disabilities.
