Alternative Education Programs

SCRIBER LAKE HIGH SCHOOL
Small alternative school of choice for students, grades 9 to 12; includes day, afternoon, and evening programs. Scriber Lake accommodates summer school, athletics, an early childhood program, and intra-district and Sno-Isle programs. It also offers an Expeditionary Learning Outward Bound program. Prospective students are required to attend orientation meeting, which is held the third Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the school cafeteria. For more information call 425-431-7275.
GED at SCRIBER LAKE HIGH SCHOOL
This is a free program offered for students 16 to 19 years of age. This is an evening program, which meets twice a week. C.L.I.P. (Contracted Learning for Individual Pacing)
CLIP is an independent study program for self-directed students to work academically in an individualized setting. The CLIP program can be an opportunity to earn credits at an accelerated pace to graduate early or to make up credits to get back on track. It includes making students responsible for regular and consistent attendance. Most classes are core requirements. There are some electives. Juniors and seniors have priority. EDMONDS HOMESCHOOL RESOURCE CENTER
This program is open to children K through 12 who have been home-schooled for at least 90 days. Through this program classes, materials, technology and support services are offered to home school families. Edmonds School District students have priority. For more information call 425-431-7480.
RUNNING START
Provides an opportunity for high school juniors and seniors to attend community college either full or part-time, tuition free. Designed for students who are ready for college-level work. Classes apply toward both high school graduation and a college degree. Students are required to pay for books, supplies and miscellaneous fee. For more information call 425-431-7127.
HIGH SCHOOL COMPLETION PROGRAM
This program is offered at Edmonds Community College. It provides course work that leads to a high school diploma. Open to individuals 17 and older. 17-year-old students need a release from their service area high school and are charged tuition. Tuition is reduced for those 19 years of age and older. EdCAP (Edmonds Career Access Program)
This program is offered at Edmonds Community College. It is designed to help 16 to 21 years old students not currently in school earn a high school diploma, GED and get career training leading to a professional certificate or ATA degree. Eligible students can receive tuition and book waivers, and transportation assistance. For more information call 425-640-1593.
GED PROGRAM
This is a free program offered at Edmonds Community College for students 16 years of age or older. Students between 16 and 19 must have a release from the service area high school. For more information call 425-640-1593.
C.E.O. (Career Education Options)
This program is offered at Shoreline Community College. It is a free OSPI sponsored program for students 16 to 21 years of age who are not currently enrolled in high school, do not already have a high school diploma, and want to gain meaningful employment. Program provides GED preparation, technical training, basic skills and on the job experience. For more information call 206-546-7844.
LAKE WASHINGTON TECHNICAL ACADEMY
A regional technical high school located at Lake Washington Technical College. Open to students who are 16 to 21 years old. Students must attend job-training classes full-time, and are allowed basic high school and general education classes each quarter. For more information call 425-739-8107.
JOB CORP
Federally funded vocational/GED education program that allows students to earn training for specific vocational areas and earn money toward a savings account and for personal expenses. Students live at the JOB CORP training facility, which offers the career training that the student desires. Open to students 16 to 24 years of age. For more information call 425-388-0166.
YOUTH RE-ENGAGEMENT
This program is offered at Everett Community College. It is designed to help 216 to 21 year old students get technical training leading to a professional certificate or ATA degree. HOME-SCHOOLING
A parent providing home schooling is required to have either 45-college level quarter credits, or to have completed a Home Based Instruction course. Home Based Instruction courses are offered through various agencies including Edmonds Community College and Edmonds Home School Resource Center. They are typically taught on weekends and evenings. An “Intent to Home-School” form must be filed with the Edmonds Home School Resource Center when initiating home schooling, and annually thereafter.
