On Wednesday, March 2, students in schools across our district will celebrate the love of reading in a variety of ways. This weekend, high school students, staff, parents, and community members will participate in the Rock 'n Read Marathon, hosted at Edmonds Bookshop, in which volunteers will take shifts to read in the window of the bookshop, covering a 55-hour span. Edmonds Education Association, our teachers' union, sponsors a door-decorating contest around Dr. Seuss-related themes at elementary schools. Read Across America Day is a nationwide reading celebration that encourages schools, libraries, and community centers to participate by bringing together children, teenagers, and books. The community's involvement and support is welcome as well. Take the time to pick up a book and read to yourself or aloud to a child in honor of this celebration!
