Early Learning: PreK-3

Since 2009 and the launch of the PreK-3 program, funded by a grant from The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the Edmonds School District has accelerated its efforts to connect and collaborate with the early childhood community. Beginning with Jump Start (a transitional program for incoming kindergarten students) and the early childhood program for students with disabilities at Alderwood Early Childhood Center, the district has expanded its partnerships to include PreK programs (childcare and preschool). Our goal is to build connections and align teaching strategies in order to promote school readiness and increase student achievement. Along with our community partners, the district is involved with professional development programs, early learning conferences, professional learning communities, and cross site visits between elementary schools and PreK programs.
