The HSPE is administered to 10th graders in the spring of each year. The Office of the Superintendant of Public Instruction (OSPI) offers a useful document for understanding state testing.“State Testing 2013: What You Need to Know” explains the basics of the HSPE.
Additional information is available on the OSPI website.
About the HSPE and Running Start
Edmonds Community College (EdCC) has a policy that if a student informs the instructor that the student must take the HSPE on a certain day and time that conflicts with the EdCC class, the instructor will give the student an excused absence. Additionally, if the HSPE conflicts with an exam in the EdCC class, the instructor will provide a make-up exam for the student.
Running Start students at other community colleges should check the policy at that school.
