Westgate Elementary, one of the 21 elementary schools in the Edmonds School District,
serves approximately 350 students in grades K through 6.
Our Goals Include:
- Math — Apply thinking strategies commonly associated with reading and writing to mathematics
instruction in order to help students deepen their understanding and to help teachers differentiate math instruction.
- Reading & Writing — Develop and improve literacy skills and strategies that enable
students to become independent and thoughtful readers and writers.
Our Celebrations Include:
- Percentage of fourth-graders meeting standard on the 2007 Washington Assessment of Student Learning:
- Reading: 77.8%
- Math: 59.3%
- Writing: 68.5%

- Teachers created an effective tool for students during the 2006-07 school year called Math Boxes, which
provided the supplies and tools necessary for students to practice math skills at home with their
parents in a fun way.
