An introductory course covering the fundamentals of horticulture. Growing houseplants and outdoor plants, learning about the greenhouse environment, flowering plants, pest control, landscape design and management/installation. Each student will be able to grow plants in the greenhouse for personal use and for sales. A section on careers in horticulture will be taught. Check with counselor to see if transportation will be available to this class. Completion of a Supervised Occupational Experience (SOE) and involvement in a leadership program through FFA/Horticulture Club is encouraged. First sequence in the Environmental Science Tech Prep Program which may earn advanced credit at Edmonds Community College and/or Lake Washington Tech. College. Tech Prep classes - High school classes may be eligible for college credit at no cost to students. College credit will be awarded based on competencies completed in high school.
