Discover
the rich cultural heritage of art from all over the world. Multicultural
art works will serve to inspire responses for assignments involving
clay, fiber, paper, etc. Knowledge necessary to work intelligently,
skillfully and creatively with media will be developed. Elements and
principles of design and aesthetics, written and/or oral critiques,
and the historical heritage of art produced will be stressed. Learn
to appreciate the diversity of our world through the Arts. |
Learn basic approaches to drawing and/or painting using a variety of subject matter, including still-life, landscape, figure and fantasy. Problems presented stress perception and stylistic organization of line, space, value, texture and color. Explore a variety of media and experiment with techniques and processes. Works of major artists working in related media are studied. THIS CLASS MAY BE REPEATED FOR CREDIT. Learning will be assessed in a variety of methods: Art scoring rubrics assessing each student's project on their idea and expression, use of elements and principles of design, technique and skill with chosen media, willingness to experiment, and effort /work ethic. This year long class is for the more serious art student with emphasis placed on developing a more personal approach to drawing and/or painting problems through advanced exploration of techniques and media. The media for this course may include the use of water colors, ink, pencil, pastels, charcoal, acrylics and oils. A study of the work of artists and art movements, past and present, is included. Students will be expected to keep sketchbook and create a portfolio of their artwork throughout year. Do you like taking photographs but don't like the thought of a dark room? Then this is the class for you! It is estimated by those in the industry that film photography could be completely gone in less than five years. Learn all the skills of photography in the modern digital world. You will be able to take pictures using state of the art digital cameras and digitally process them using Adobe Photoshop on state of the art computers. Pictures will be printed on laser photo paper and mounted for presentation. (There will be a modest lab fee for this class). Learning will be assessed in a variety of methods: comparisons to scoring rubrics and models, traditional tests, demonstrations of ability to apply knowledge, projects, teacher observations/evaluations, peer evaluations, and journals. |

Did you love digital photography and want more? Explore in depth the fascinating world of digital photography. Learn and put to use the finer points of digital cameras, file structures, and all Photoshop has to offer. Prepare assignments in sports, events, photojournalism and portraits for publication.

The students will explore the art of visual communication. Students will gain skills in the planning, technology and production of film. The various approaches to film story telling will be studied including; documentary, educational, industrial and classic narrative.
Learning will be assessed in a variety of methods: homework, daily work, traditional tests and the completion of class projects on the techniques of film production.
