World History 9 |

Students in
World History 9 will examine the origins of beliefs systems such
as: Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. Students
will also study world history by investigating the theme of Global
Expansion and Encounter (Approximately 1400-1750). Studies will
use a variety of social studies skills including: examining data
and facts and drawing conclusions from the data, separating fact
from opinion, explaining ideas, writing essays, comparing and contrasting,
recognizing cause and effect, and working collaboratively. |
Students
in World History 10 will examine world history, geography, and concepts
in economics from 1750 to the present. Content in the course includes
topics such as: The Age of Revolution, the Causes and Consequences
of International Conflicts, Challenges to Human Rights, and the
Emergence of New Nations . Studies will use a variety of social
studies skills including: examining data and facts and drawing conclusions
from the data, separating fact from opinion, explaining ideas, writing
essays, comparing and contrasting, recognizing cause and effect,
and working collaboratively. |

Learning
will be demonstrated through written assignments/essays, oral presentations,
individual projects, quizzes/tests, journals, simulations, and debates.
In addition students may be designing their own Web page. |
Economics is a class that explores how our government and our economy work and interact. Students will not only learn about how our government works and what their rights and responsibilities as a citizen are, but will also have an opportunity to explore the mysterious world of economics. Students will study basic macro-economic theory, compare economic systems, explain economic cycles, and understand the inner workings of a market economy. Students will apply their understanding of basic economic concepts through stock market competition, and various research/analysis tasks which require reading, writing and public speech. |
In this course students will be taking a journey through diverse world cultures with the express purpose of learning more about ourselves. What are the primary aspects of creating a community and what do they say about what one values will be a guiding theme for this course. We will participate in the creation of music and folk crafts from around the world, and we will specifically look at lost or nearly lose cultural groups from across the globe. Students
