Course involves personal fitness assessment, cardiovascular, flexibility and strength training. Learn about safety, types of equipment, terminology, basic muscle physiology and myths. Identify personal fitness levels.

Before and after fitness tests, fitness article reviews, evaluations of daily workout sheets, written tests on weightlifting safety techniques, and demonstration of correct technique of all lifts

Health  (PHE300)

Prerequisite: None

Length:  1 semester
Credits:  .5

Topics include: mental and emotional health, coping with high school issues (time and stress management, grief/loss, and suicide prevention), drugs, alcohol, and tobacco, sex education including STDs, human sexuality, and the reproductive system.

Learning will be assessed in a variety of methods: grading to scoring rubrics, daily class and written assignments, quizzes, tests, and individual unit projects.

Individual and Team Sports (PHE260)

Prerequisite: None

Length:  1 semester

Participate in individual and team sports in a co-educational environment. Basic instruction in a variety of sports, recreational and conditioning activities to encourage a healthy lifestyle. Gain an understanding of personal fitness.

Learning will be assessed through the demonstration of proper skill technique and knowledge of the rules and strategies through game situations.
