(Education and Job Opportunities)

Taking an AP Exam?-Please Read! All testing will be done at the Edmonds School District offices, 20420-68th Ave West, Lynnwood, except for Friday, May 9th which will be done in the MTHS library.  Field Trip forms should be returned no later than April 30th to your teacher.

AP Test Dates:

Government May 5 7:30AM-Noon
Statistics May 6 11:30AM-4:30PM
Calculus AB May7 7:30AM-Noon 
English Lit May 8 7:30AM-Noon
U.S. History May 9 7:30-Noon
Euro. History May 9 11:30AM--4:30P

No cell phones or food allowed during exam (snack allowed during 10 minute break). Bring 2 pencils and 2 pens, valid photo I.D., and up to two calculators for Calculus, Chemistry, Physics, and Statistics.  Also bring a ruler for the Physics exam. Students must provide their own transportation to/from the testing site. Call 425 431-5590 for further information.

  • Summer Opportunities:   

GOLFERS- Seattle Golf Club is looking for you!  SGC is currently seeking young golfers to work as caddies during the 2008 golf season.  Must be at least 14 years of age, hard-working, and cooperative as well as understanding the game of golf.  You must also have the physical stamina to carry a golf bag for 18 holes. Contact Art Lagreid/Asst. Pro at 206 363-8811 to apply. If you caddie for two years, may qualify for the Chick Evans Caddie Scholarship. 

Northwest Asian Weekly Foundation- Summer Youth Program/Develop leadership and communication skills. Meet Asian American role models and leaders; discover Asian community resources; build friendships with Asian youths from other areas of Puget Sound; great field trip, speakers. Free and includes ethnic lunches every day for 3 weeks.  Earn $100-$500.00 in scholarships.  June 30-July 18, 2008/Chinatown Community Center.  Get an application in the Career Center.

Evergreen Boys and Girls State-Are you interested in Leadership and Americanism?
Spend a week at Central Washington University attending Evergreen Boys or Girls state, sponsored by the American Legion in June.  Get an application in the Career Center ASAP!

WSU’s Cougar Quest Summer Academic Camp is open to grades 7-12. Students are exposed to a variety of academic subjects through numerous workshops they attend throughout the week-long program. More information is available at http://www.cougarquest.wsu.edu

Washington Business Week is an organization offering week-long high school camps at various Washington state college campuses throughout the summer. Recently WBW has expanded its programs to offer Healthcare Week, Finance and Accounting Week, and Construction Week. Program dates and additional details can be found at www.wbw.org. A representative from WBW is visiting MTHS on May 28th.

Need a Job??? EDMONDS CAREER CONNECTIONS- is an online job board and has listings of volunteer opportunities, mentors and more.  Students must first come to the Career Center for a parent permission form to use the online site. Currently, we have job postings for at least 16 positions including Jamba Juice, The Little Gym, and the Port of Edmonds.

Criteria for VOLUNTEER Credit- Obtain pre-approval forms from Ms. Roberts in the Career Center. Work 90 hours in one semester and get an evaluation from your supervisor.  Earn .50 credit.

Males approaching your 18th birthday may pick up an application to register with the Selective Service.  If you fail to register you will not qualify for federal student grants or loans for college or for federal employment and you are breaking the law.  Go to www.sss.gov  for online registration.

  • TECH PREP - TechPrep is a college bound program that allows students to earn both high school and college credit for qualifying courses taken on the high school campus.  Students can prepare for college and career goals at the same time they fulfill high school graduation requirements.  College credits are free to TechPrep students!  
  • WOIS - Grade Level Planning: A portfolio will be created by each student and each year they will complete several  Graduation Performance Tasks within the WOIS system. They will also store their "Best Works" within the portfolio.

    vocational class at one of the other high schools. Some of the classes:
    Fire Service taken at a Fire Station, Health Care, Automotive Technology
    just to name a few. Bus is provided.

    interview at Sno-Isle. Applications in the Career Center. Bus is provided.
