Boticelli, Shakespeare, Galileo,
DaVinci, …. If you
ask any artist they will most certainly identify each of these
individuals as a remarkable artist.
Approach scientists or scholars on the matter, and they will
undoubtedly point out the many academic achievements of each.
The Renaissance School is devoted to providing an environment
in which students can explore the interconnections
between academics and performing arts.
In this fashion, students will discover the importance of
developing knowledge in all disciplines in order to truly excel at
that which they love most.
The Renaissance School is designed
to invite the curiosity and creativity of staff and students to
cultivate exploration of intellectual challenges.
The academic and artistic diversity of our staff allows
Renaissance to offer college preparatory programs including but not
limited to physics, calculus, AP classes, advanced literature, and
honors designations. In addition we offer College in High
School classes through the university of Washington -English 131 and
English 111 - allowing students to earn both college and high
school credits simultaneously. Courses will emphasize the interconnections of
subjects, communication skills, rigorous analysis of texts and
ideas, critical assessments of arguments and thoughtful reflection.
Involvement in performing arts classes such as culinary arts,
marketing, theater, dance, vocal and instrumental groups provides
the platform for students to pursue elevation of the human spirit.
The foundational nature of academic disciplines in the
advancement of performing arts is a touchstone of our philosophy.
Staff members encourage student success through
mentoring in areas of academics, behavior, and attendance.
Staff is dedicated to developing relationships with students
that positively impact students’ abilities and commitment to
learning. In
opportunities provided for student growth, teachers will be found
directly in the students’ midst sharing their experiences and love
of the art or subject. Through
these efforts, Renaissance provides a degree of personalization not
possible in a large school environment.
