The LPGA was founded by a group of 13 women in 1950, including Babe Didrikson Zaharias. It is now the oldest ongoing women's professional sports organization in the United States. Carolyn Bivens is the current LPGA Commissioner.

LPGA or Ladies Professional Golf Association is the American orginization for female professional golfers. The LPGA is famous for running the LPGA Tour, which is a series of weekly golf tournaments for women golfers around the world. It runs from February to December each year. For the year 2007, the prize money will be USD $54.285 million. Most of the Tours events are held in the United States, but this year there are two events in Mexico and one in Canada.
